The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) has announced that eighteen companies will share over £29.1 million of investment for fast-start projects aimed at rapidly developing automotive products with a clear route to market. The package includes £14.3 million of grant support from the Department for Business and Trade's DRIVE35 Demonstrate programme, delivered through the APC, and matched by industry funding.

We are delighted to confirm that Impact Recycling is part of the successful RADICAL consortium, alongside Jaguar Land Rover, Sanko Gosei UK and the University of Warwick.

About RADICAL

RADICAL focuses on the integration of functionality into an interior vehicle structure through innovative joining, demonstrating circularity and reductions in mass, cost and disassembly time. The project will draw on Impact Recycling's BOSS technology and recycled polymer expertise to help embed circular materials into next-generation automotive interiors.

Fast-start demonstrators

The funded projects have up to 12 months to demonstrate a product, system, or vehicle. Across the eighteen awards, the demonstrators span lightweight long-range electric cars, end-of-life battery recycling, sustainable cockpit structures, hydrogen powertrains, solid-state batteries and advanced power electronics — reflecting the breadth of UK innovation accelerating the transition to net zero.

What this means for Impact Recycling

Participation in RADICAL underlines the role of high-quality recycled polymers in decarbonising the automotive sector. Working with JLR, Sanko Gosei UK and the University of Warwick gives Impact Recycling the opportunity to validate recycled feedstocks in demanding interior applications and to demonstrate measurable reductions in mass, cost and disassembly time at vehicle scale.
