Recovered material
What was recovered, from which feedstock, and how the output is defined for buyer or processor reporting.
Sustainability Measurement
Our Life Cycle Assessment, based on real operational data from our UK plants, shows that BOSS technology outperforms conventional waste plastic treatment across every major environmental indicator. BOSS reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 2.04 tonnes of CO2e per tonne of plastic processed, cuts energy use by 70% and water consumption by 38%, and lifts material recovery from the EU average of 9% to over 72%, at a purity exceeding 95%
OUR SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING
Processors, brands and reporting teams require traceability evidence when assessing recovered-material claims. Each category below sets out what Impact Recycling's evidence covers.
What was recovered, from which feedstock, and how the output is defined for buyer or processor reporting.
Purity, consistency and testing process evidence that can support material acceptance and procurement questions.
Where recovered material goes next, and whether the route supports a credible circularity claim.

We confirm End of Waste status and provide PRN and sampling evidence, supporting your compliance and audit reporting.
Evidence areas
Impact Recycling aligns process records to the frameworks procurement and ESG teams already reference — End of Waste, extended producer responsibility, BS EN 15343 traceability, and ISO life cycle assessment.
LCA
Our Life Cycle Assessment uses real operational data from our UK plants to benchmarks BOSS against the prevailing EU waste plastic treatment mix of 33.6% landfill, 57.4% incineration and 9.0% recycling. The functional unit is the treatment of one tonne of mixed post-consumer plastic packaging waste, on a gate-to-gate boundary covering sorting, washing, BOSS separation, extrusion with the PRE MFR additive, palletisation and residue disposal.
Against an EU baseline of 3.24 tCO2e per tonne, BOSS operates at 1.20 tCO2e per tonne — a net saving of 2.04 tCO2e per tonne processed. Energy demand falls from 36.29 kWh to 11.09 kWh per tonne (around 70% lower), water use is reduced by 38% through a recirculated wash system, and material recovery rises from the EU average of 9% to over 72%, producing PP/PE pellets at a purity exceeding 95% that can directly substitute virgin resin and be reused up to seven times. The full LCA is available on request.
EoW
Our recycled plastic product is accredited with the ‘End of Waste’ (EoW) status with the Environment Agency in the UK by virtue of its purity, consistency and the robust application of our quality control procedures. The EA have approved our process as meeting European Commission EoW criteria which specify when certain waste ceases to be waste and obtains a status of a product or a secondary raw material. In our case, BOSS technology recycles waste plastic into a secondary raw material suitable for use in manufacturing.
Without recycling, this material is not sustainable as a packaging solution. Our technology, process and business model fundamentally change the life cycle assessment of plastic as a packaging solution by unlocking the recyclability of hitherto “hard-to-recycle” waste streams.
PRN
As part of the EoW process we are an accredited reprocessor for Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs) with the UK Environment Agency (EA) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). As an accredited PRN reprocessor we are subject to audits by both regulatory bodies and have a duty to follow rigorous sampling procedures to determine the post-consumer plastic packaging content of our feedstock on a load by load basis.
We follow a controlled approach that focuses on the physical traceability of materials throughout the entire recycling process, so at any given time the percentage of recycled content is known for each batch of waste plastic feedstock received. This ensures reliable, understandable and audited chain of traceability for our recycled polymer.
